Picture Diary / uncertain / Magdalena from space

I'm sure I've said before, but I have a second instagram. It's called magdalenafromspace, and it's sort of my "private" one, although it's not private. It's more of my picture diary that I keep for my own sake. It's for all those small details in life that are beautiful, and you want to remember and take pictures of. When I'm on vacation I usually post those photos there. The reason I'm doing this post is because I'm going away for the weekend and I never got around to preparing blog posts. So I thought I'd share this. And now I have finally upgraded to a iPhone 5S (from the shitty 4 I've had for the past six months), so I think I will take more photos now that the camera doesn't take forever to start up.

In case you were wondering why it's Magdalena from space, it's because my given name, Malin, is a shortened, Scandinavian version of Magdalena. I've gotten very attached to it in the past five or so years, and it feels as if it's sort of my magical alter-ego.

Vintage haul

So payday came and went, and I did some real bargains when Malvina and I did a tour around most of the vintage shops in our hometown. Black tees with random prints from Beyond Retro. I've been wanting a Harley Davidson tee for ages. Lewis mom jeans from Myrorna. Some basic black stuff from Myrorna and Humana.

And last but most definitely not least; a pair of Demonia platform boots from Beyond Retro. Now, I've been dreaming of a pair of Demonia boots since I was fifteen (my style back then was sort of Decora meets pastel goth), and I had even saved up to buy a pair, but circumstances happened and I never got around to it, but I've been half-heartedly searching for a pair to a reasonable price since then. So finding these at BR was heart-stopping. The price was good to begin with, but since the BR in my town is an outlet store, they were half of, so they were a really good price for a pair that seems to be barely used. I don't actually know what size they are, but they are a perfect fit.

What I have done to them though, is a little DIY that turned out great but could just as well had ruined them. See, this is the Transformer 800 boots, they were originally knee-high (like this), but because I have so slim calfs, knee-high boots never really work on me. And they were missing one of the straps as well so I figured I had to do something. So I decided to cut them off about mid-calf (don't try this at home, kids). Since the fabric is fairly thin, I could sew around the edge, and sew down the zipper in the back without a hustle. Unless you look closely you can barely tell of my abuse, and now they're much more usable as well. Knee-high boots with platform and that many buckles is a bit too much for me for basically any situation. But this is great. Super comfortable to walk in as well. Can't wait to properly style them!

Can't feel anything

So this happened and it crushed my heart and soul.

If you don't know it's from SNL. And if you're not into that I feel sorry for you. Also if you don't know this is Jim Carrey and Kate McKinnon, of whom the latter is my greatest woman crush right now.

I feel I write to little about TV-shows lately. You who are new to my blog probably don't notice or relize, but you who have been around a while know that aside from all that this is, TV-shows (sci-fi) is my greatest hobby. I live through TV-shows. It's a greatness I can never achieve to be a part of something in real life that even resembles Star Trek or Stargate. I so badly want to see the universe in that way, to see things beyond this tiny little planet. Because I know there's more than this. And knowing that is enough most of the time, as long as I can put on Voyager and then dream about it.

I don't write much these days because I'm not binge watching anything right now. the only show I follow with full devotion is SNL. And Castle half-heartedly.  I'm not feeling the new season of Doctor Who at all. And to be completely honest, this season of American Horror Story might be too scary for me. I can't deal with the clown. It may be so that I have to binge watch that later when the season is complete to lessen the time of which I will be feeling anxious about being outside alone when it's dark. It's kinda problematic to be afraid of that this time of year when it's dark so many hours of the day. And as it is right now the anxiety after each episode lessen in about the same time for it to come a new episode. And I just... Rather not.

I think maybe I should get it together and finish Stargate SG-1. I think I have a few seasons left. But I don't like it when they break up the original team.

Does anyone have any tips for shows that are preferably sci-fi or crime that has female leads and/or a female heavy cast? That is also preferably relatively new (I will go no further back than the 90's)? I could use something new. And don't say Rizzoli and Isles.

This turned into a rant. And it was definitely on purpose. Gonna read some Stargate fanfiction now.

pastel purple

So I went pastel purple. It's a mix of Directions Violet and Carnation Pink. I mostly did it because I hope it will fade to a nicer white than I had before, but I find I really like it. Sort of inspired by Nicole Richie's purple hair. It's lightly uneven (but isn't it always), and I'm out of dye so I need to get more. Also, as you can probably tell, I've dyed by eyebrows dark again. Bleached eyebrows is such a cool look, but I still like my face better with dark ones.

New in

tattoo chokers with pendants, all ebay.

I just got home from a weekend in Stockholm , and I did some shopping while I was there. The jacket and the bell bottom leggings I got at the Alice by Belle Shoes store, and the shoes I got at a Factory outlet.

I'm in love with the bell bottom leggings so bad. They are so flattering on me and make my legs look super long and slim, especially if I wear them with heels. You'll see when I style them. And they are sooo comfortable.

And speaking of comfort. I've started putting pendants on all my tattoo chokers, because it makes them so much more comfy to wear. I usually find them too tight to wear for longer periods of time otherwise, but with a pendant that weighs them down it's way better. And you can get cool pendants super cheap of ebay. Just search for like "sun pendant" or whatever and you'll find loads.

If you haven't figured by now, Missguided is one of my favorite online stores. 99% of the time I can find the type of clothing pieces I'm looking for there. So when the newsletter about the new Nicole Scherzinger collection popped up in my inbox a few days ago, I couldn't resist checking it out. What I love about it, that's the same as with the last one, is the minimalism, and of course all the black! The collage above would have been all black pieces if I didn't like the red co-ord so much. I got that very same one in black today, and I'll be making an outfit post with it soon. I do LOVE it in red though, but I cannot for the life of me pull of that kind of bright red (it's my skin tone, it just doesn't work). So I'm hoping one of you will get it and rock it in my place, and I shall stay with my all black!

Now you ask yourselves; didn't you already wear this outfit? Well, basically, yes I did. This is my go-to look right now. Skinny jeans, vintage tee, hoodie, black boots (that are not lace-ups), oversized coat. It never really fails. And black vintage tees with weird prints are my fav thing right now, as I'm sure I've told you before. I stocked up on four new ones at my most local vintage store the other day, when they had a 4-for-100kr-offer. Two plain ones, and two with prints from places I haven't been (San Antonio and Reykjavik).

Also I bleached my "roots" and eyebrows. It's not all white, though, but also kind of a mix of pastel pink, purple and yellow. I need to go in with another round of bleach someday soon to even it out.
